LPDDR5X
LPDDR5X is a fast, power-saving type of RAM used in phones, tablets and thin laptops.

LPDDR5X is a type of RAM made for battery-powered devices. LPDDR stands for Low-Power Double Data Rate, and the 5X marks the fifth generation in its faster form. It is an open standard from the JEDEC industry body, so many chip makers follow it.
How it works
RAM holds the apps and data a processor is using right now. LPDDR chips are designed to use little power, and they are often packed right next to the processor to save space and energy. LPDDR5X moves data faster than LPDDR5 and the older LPDDR4X, so the processor spends less time waiting for data.
What the numbers mean
- The number is the generation. A higher number is a newer design.
- The X means an extended, faster version of that generation.
- Speed is quoted in megabits per second for each data pin. LPDDR5 is rated up to 6,400, and LPDDR5X goes beyond it, with common parts rated 8,533 or more.
What it does not promise
Faster memory does not decide by itself how quick a device feels. The processor, the storage and the software matter just as much. LPDDR5X also says nothing about how much RAM a device has, because that is a separate figure in gigabytes. The memory is normally soldered in, so it cannot be upgraded later.
