Quick Summary

The Find X9s 5G is OPPO's attempt to put flagship speed and a serious camera into a phone that is still easy to hold. It gets most of the big things right: a fast MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chip, three 50 MP cameras including a proper periscope zoom, a bright 120 Hz AMOLED screen and a 7,025 mAh battery that comfortably outlasts a day. The compromises are a plastic back, no wireless charging and a price that has crept up since launch, to ₹84,999 for the 256 GB model. It suits people who want top-tier performance and a versatile camera without the bulk of an Ultra phone.

Design & Build Quality

At 202 g and 8 mm thick, the Find X9s feels compact and balanced for a phone with a battery this large, and the flat 6.59-inch body is easy to use one-handed. The aluminium frame feels sturdy, and the front is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. The back, however, is plastic. It looks clean in Sunset Orange, Lavender Sky and Midnight Grey, but at this price glass or a premium matte finish would be expected, and a bare plastic back tends to pick up fine scratches over time. OPPO includes a protective case in the box, which helps.

Durability is a real strength. IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings mean monsoon rain, a dunk in water or a high-pressure wash are not a worry, and the phone carries a drop-resistance certification as well. The customisable Snap Key on the side is a genuinely handy shortcut for the camera or a torch once you set it up.

Display

The 6.59-inch AMOLED panel is one of the phone's best features. It is sharp at FHD+, colours are rich without looking overdone, and the 120 Hz adaptive refresh keeps scrolling smooth while saving power on static content. Peak brightness of 3,600 nits means it stays readable under harsh afternoon sun on Indian streets. High-frequency PWM dimming at 3,840 Hz is good news for anyone who gets eye strain from low-brightness flicker, and the slim, even bezels make the screen feel larger than it is.

Everyday Performance

Performance is where the Find X9s feels every bit a flagship. The Dimensity 9500s, built on a 3 nm process and paired with 12 GB of LPDDR5X memory and fast UFS 4.1 storage, opens apps instantly and handles heavy multitasking without reloading. Demanding games run smoothly at high settings, and the vapour-chamber cooling keeps long sessions in check. Unless you are chasing benchmark scores, there is nothing here that will feel slow for years. The only limit is storage: there is no microSD slot, so heavy video shooters should look at the 512 GB model.

Camera Performance

The camera system is the reason to choose this phone over other fast Android phones. The 50 MP main camera with a large 1/1.56-inch sensor and optical stabilisation produces detailed, natural photos with Hasselblad-tuned colour, and it holds up well indoors and at night. The 50 MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom is the standout: portraits, stage shows and distant buildings come out far cleaner than the digital crops most phones rely on. The 50 MP ultra-wide is consistent with the other two cameras, so colours do not shift when you change lenses.

Video is strong too, with 4K at 60 fps and Dolby Vision recording on the rear and 4K on the 32 MP front camera, which makes it a good choice for creators and video calls alike.

Battery Life & Charging

The 7,025 mAh silicon-carbon battery gives the Find X9s excellent endurance. A full day of heavy use with navigation, camera and streaming still leaves charge in reserve, and lighter users can stretch it towards two days. When you do need to top up, 80 W SUPERVOOC charging is quick, and the charger comes in the box. The one gap is wireless charging, which this phone does not have; at this price, some rivals include it.

Software & Updates

ColorOS 16 on Android 16 is fluid and feature-rich, with useful AI tools for erasing objects, cleaning up photos, summarising recordings and translating menus. Sharing files with an iPhone through Quick Share is a practical bonus for mixed households. OPPO promises five years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, which is a long and reassuring commitment for a phone you may keep for several years. Expect some pre-installed apps on first setup, but they can be removed.

Connectivity & Audio

Connectivity is complete: 5G on Indian networks, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.1, NFC for tap-to-pay and an IR blaster to control the TV or AC. The stereo speakers are clear and loud enough for videos, though not the fullest-sounding at this price. There is no 3.5 mm headphone jack, so wired listening needs USB Type-C earphones; wireless users get high-quality codecs including LDAC.

What Buyers Say

Buyers are largely happy with the Find X9s. The most common praise is for smooth, lag-free performance even under heavy use, followed closely by the camera, with the main sensor's detail and colour and the zoom quality singled out again and again. Battery life that easily lasts a full day is another frequent positive, as is the bright, sharp display. Complaints are few and scattered; the one that recurs is that the phone feels slippery without a case. Opinion is split on value: many feel it is worth the money, while a smaller group thinks the asking price is high for what it offers.

Features Assessment

The features that matter most here are practical ones. The ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor works quickly even with wet fingers, the IR blaster earns its place in Indian homes, and the Snap Key saves time once configured. The AI tools are genuinely useful for photo clean-up and note-taking rather than gimmicks. The missing pieces are wireless charging and expandable storage, and at this price both are missed.

Ease of Use

The compact size, light weight and flat screen make the Find X9s easy to live with. Setup is straightforward, ColorOS menus are well organised, and the camera app is simple for beginners while the Master mode gives enthusiasts finer control. The case in the box means you are protected from day one.

Value for Money

The Find X9s now sells for ₹84,999 for 12 GB + 256 GB and ₹94,999 for 12 GB + 512 GB, about ₹5,000 more than its launch prices. At that level it competes with established flagships, and the plastic back and lack of wireless charging become harder to overlook. What you do get is a periscope zoom camera, top-class performance, a very large battery, strong water resistance and a long update promise, a combination few phones of this size offer. The 256 GB model is the sensible pick for most people; choose 512 GB only if you shoot a lot of 4K video, since storage cannot be expanded. Value is good rather than outstanding at today's price.

Who Should Buy It?

  • People who want flagship performance in a phone that is comfortable to hold.
  • Photography fans who use zoom for portraits, events and travel.
  • Heavy users who need a battery that lasts well beyond a day.
  • People who want strong water and dust protection for monsoon and travel.
  • People who plan to keep a phone for four or five years.

Who Should Consider Alternatives?

  • Anyone who relies on wireless charging every day.
  • Anyone who expects a glass back and premium materials at this price.
  • People who want expandable storage or a headphone jack.
  • Those who want the very best zoom and low-light camera, who should look at Ultra-class phones.

Pros

  • Flagship-level speed from the Dimensity 9500s, with smooth gaming and multitasking.
  • Versatile triple 50 MP camera with a genuine 3x periscope zoom.
  • Excellent battery life from the 7,025 mAh cell, with fast 80 W charging.

  • IP66, IP68 and IP69 protection for water, dust and jets.
  • Five years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
  • Compact and light for its battery size, at 202 g.

Cons

  • Plastic back feels below this price level.
  • No wireless charging on a phone this expensive.
  • No microSD slot to expand storage.
  • No 3.5 mm headphone jack.
  • Current price is higher than at launch.

Editorial Verdict

The OPPO Find X9s 5G is one of the most complete compact flagships available in India. Its strengths are clear: the Dimensity 9500s makes it fast in every task, the triple 50 MP camera with a real periscope zoom gives it a versatility most phones of this size lack, and the 7,025 mAh battery with 80 W charging removes battery anxiety for even heavy users. The bright AMOLED screen and IP69 protection make it a practical companion through Indian summers and monsoons alike. The compromises are mostly about polish rather than ability. A plastic back, no wireless charging and no expandable storage are hard to ignore at this level, and the phone now costs more than it did at launch, which narrows its advantage over well-known rivals. Over two or three years of ownership, the Find X9s should age well. The chip has plenty of headroom, the silicon-carbon battery starts with a large capacity, and the promise of five OS upgrades and six years of security patches keeps it current for longer than most. It is best for people who want flagship speed and a serious zoom camera without carrying a large Ultra phone. ConsumerArena rates it 4.3: excellent performance, battery and camera, held back by materials and value that do not quite match its price.
