Quick Summary
The realme GT 8 Pro is realme's most ambitious flagship yet, built for buyers who want top-tier speed, a huge battery and a camera with real personality without paying the very highest flagship prices. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a sharp 2K AMOLED screen, a 7,000 mAh battery with 120 W charging and a 200 MP periscope telephoto tuned with RICOH GR make a strong case on paper and in daily use. The compromises are a heavier body and a software experience that does not yet match the polish and update length of the biggest names. Prices start around ₹73,000.
Design & Build Quality
The GT 8 Pro feels like a serious flagship in the hand. The matte metal frame, flat screen and soft, paper-like leather back give it a distinctive, grippy finish that resists fingerprints better than glossy glass. The playful Switch Design, which lets you change the camera surround between Robot, Circle and Square styles, is a fun touch rather than a gimmick you will miss.
At 214 to 218 g it is heavy, and you notice it during long calls or one-handed reading. Durability is excellent: Gorilla Glass 7i protects the screen, and the IP69, IP68 and IP66 ratings mean rain, splashes, dust and even a short dip are no cause for worry. The Aston Martin Dream Edition adds a racing-green finish and a collector's box for those who want something special.
Display
The 6.79-inch 2K AMOLED panel is superb. Text and photos look razor sharp, colours are rich and accurate, and the 144 Hz refresh rate keeps scrolling and gaming very fluid. Very high brightness makes it easy to read under the harsh Indian afternoon sun, and the anti-glare finish helps further.
Eye comfort has clearly been thought through. Full-brightness DC dimming and a hardware low-blue-light panel make long evening sessions easier on the eyes, and the 1-nit night mode is useful for reading in a dark room without disturbing others.
Everyday Performance
This is one of the fastest phones you can buy in India. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage opens apps instantly, handles heavy multitasking without strain and runs demanding games at high frame rates. The large vapour chamber does a good job of keeping performance steady during long gaming sessions.
Like most flagship chips, it can get warm under sustained heavy load, but it rarely holds the phone back. For gaming, video editing and power users, performance is a clear strength and will stay comfortably ahead of everyday needs for years.
Camera Performance
The camera system is the GT 8 Pro's personality. The 50 MP main camera with a large sensor captures natural, detailed photos, and the RICOH GR tuning avoids the over-sharpened, heavily processed look common on many phones. RICOH GR Mode, with classic 28 mm and 40 mm framing and film tones, makes street and travel photography genuinely enjoyable.
The 200 MP periscope telephoto is the standout. It delivers crisp portraits and detailed zoom shots, and stabilisation keeps distant subjects steady. The 50 MP ultra-wide is a capable partner rather than an afterthought. Video is equally strong, with 8K recording, 4K at 120 fps, Dolby Vision and 10-bit Log for creators. The 32 MP selfie camera records 4K at 60 fps. The one caveat is that results lean natural rather than punchy, which not every buyer will prefer.
Battery Life & Charging
Battery life is outstanding. The 7,000 mAh dual-cell battery comfortably gets heavy users through a full day of 5G, gaming, camera use and streaming, and moderate users can often stretch it into a second day. That is a big advantage over most flagships, which use smaller batteries.
Charging is just as impressive. The 120 W charger comes in the box and refills the battery very quickly, and 50 W wireless charging adds convenience at the desk or bedside. Reverse charging can top up earbuds or a friend's phone in a pinch.
Software & Updates
realme UI 7.0 on Android 16 looks fresh and modern, with smooth animations and useful AI tools such as AI Framing Master for better compositions. It is fast and generally stable. Four Android upgrades and five years of security updates are reasonable but fall short of the longest promises from rival flagship makers, which matters if you plan to keep the phone for many years.
Connectivity & Audio
Connectivity is complete. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and dual-band GPS with NavIC cover every need, and the SignalCatcher chip with five antennas helps hold a stable signal in lifts, metros and crowded areas. An IR blaster lets you control TVs and ACs, which is handy in Indian homes.
The symmetric dual speakers are loud and full for videos and games. There is no headphone jack, so wired earphones need a USB Type-C adapter or dongle.
What Buyers Say
Buyers consistently praise the GT 8 Pro's performance, describing it as very fast and smooth in everyday use and gaming. The premium look and feel of the design and its build quality are another frequent highlight, along with the quick charging. Overall satisfaction is high among early owners, with most feedback focused on speed, design and the overall flagship experience.
Features Assessment
The features that make the biggest difference are the 200 MP telephoto, the huge battery with 120 W charging, the excellent 2K display and the full IP69 protection. The RICOH GR camera modes add genuine creative value for photography lovers. Wireless and reverse charging, an IR blaster and Wi-Fi 7 round out a feature list with very few gaps.
Ease of Use
The phone is easy to set up and pleasant to use. The ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor is fast and reliable for unlocking, and realme UI is intuitive for anyone coming from another Android phone. The included protective case is a thoughtful touch. The weight is the main ergonomic drawback for users with smaller hands.
Value for Money
Today the 12 GB + 256 GB model sells for about ₹72,999 and the 16 GB + 512 GB model for about ₹78,999. The 12 GB + 256 GB version will be more than enough for most people, while the 16 GB + 512 GB model suits creators who shoot a lot of 8K and 4K video, since there is no memory card slot.
For the money you get flagship performance, one of the best telephoto cameras available, a class-leading battery and a charger in the box. Compared with the most expensive flagships it represents strong value, though the shorter update promise is worth weighing if you keep phones for five years or more.

Editorial Verdict
The realme GT 8 Pro is a confident, well-rounded flagship that excels where it matters most for power users. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivers speed that will stay comfortably ahead of everyday needs for years, the 2K AMOLED display is among the best you can buy, and the 7,000 mAh battery with 120 W charging removes battery anxiety almost entirely. The camera system gives it real character: the 200 MP periscope telephoto is genuinely excellent, and the RICOH GR tuning offers a natural, film-like look that photography lovers will appreciate. Add strong water and dust protection, wireless charging and a charger in the box, and it is hard to find a major gap in the hardware. The compromises are mostly about comfort and longevity. The phone is heavy, the natural camera processing will not please those who like vivid colours, and four Android upgrades with five years of security updates is decent rather than class-leading, which could matter over three or more years of ownership. That balance explains the overall score of 4.6: near-perfect marks for display, performance and battery are held back slightly by software support and weight. Choose the GT 8 Pro if you want a fast, long-lasting flagship with a standout zoom camera at a sensible price.
