Quick Summary

The itel Zeno 200 is a budget 4G phone from itel that spends its money on the things a first-time or backup-phone buyer actually touches: a big 6.75-inch screen at 120 Hz, a 5,000 mAh battery, 128 GB of storage and an IP65 rating that is rare at this price. The compromise is plain. There is no 5G, the chipset is modest and charging is slow. It sits in the sub-Rs 12,000 band and makes sense as a sturdy everyday phone rather than a fast one.

Design & Build Quality

The Zeno 200 looks cleaner than most phones in its class. A flat back, a large camera island and three finishes, Comet Orange, Nightly Blue and Meteor Titanium, give it some personality, and the orange one stands out in a crowd. At 185 g and 8.29 mm it is not slim, but the weight feels reassuring rather than heavy, and the side-mounted fingerprint sensor sits right under the thumb.

The real selling point is toughness. IP65 means the phone is sealed against dust and can handle water jets, so monsoon showers, a wet kitchen counter or a dusty workshop are less of a worry. itel also claims military-grade durability testing, with repeated drop and temperature tests. Treat those as the brand's own claims, but together with the IP rating they point to a phone built for rough daily handling. It is not designed to be dunked, and IP65 is not the same as being waterproof underwater.

Display

The 6.75-inch IPS panel is the headline. A 120 Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through WhatsApp, Instagram or a long web page feel noticeably smoother than the 60 Hz screens common at this price, and the 240 Hz touch sampling keeps taps responsive. The wet-touch handling is a practical extra for people who use the phone with damp or oily hands.

The limits are what you would expect from an HD+ resolution. Text is not razor sharp, and with a peak brightness of around 590 nits it is comfortable indoors but harder to read in direct afternoon sun. For video, social media and reading, it is perfectly adequate. For anyone used to an AMOLED screen, it will look plain.

Everyday Performance

A Unisoc T7250 with 4 GB of RAM is built for light use. Calls, messaging, UPI payments, YouTube, browsing and a handful of social apps run without drama, and the Android 15 Go edition helps by keeping the software light. Heavy multitasking, long gaming sessions and demanding 3D games are where it runs out of breath, and app launches will never feel quick. The eMMC storage is slower than the UFS found on pricier phones, so installs and large file copies take their time.

The 128 GB of storage is generous for the money, and the hybrid slot lets you add a microSD card if photos and videos pile up. That slot is shared with the second SIM, so you choose between two SIMs and extra storage.

Camera

The single 13 MP rear camera is a point-and-shoot tool. In good daylight it can produce clean, reasonably colourful pictures, which is enough for social posts, documents and family snapshots. Low light is where it struggles, and the lack of any secondary lens means no ultra-wide or macro shots. Video tops out at 1080p at 30 fps. The 5 MP front camera handles video calls and casual selfies, with a screen flash for dim rooms.

Battery Life & Charging

The 5,000 mAh battery is a good match for the low-power chipset and HD+ screen, and a full day of mixed use should be comfortable for most people. The weak spot is charging. The phone supports 15 W, and the charger supplied in the box is a 10 W unit, so a full top-up from empty is a long, slow affair. If you often rely on a quick fifteen-minute charge before leaving home, this will frustrate you.

Software & AI

itelOS on Android 15 Go is simple and functional. The Sola AI assistant adds summarising, voice commands and a few image tools, which are useful extras rather than reasons to buy. itel's four-year fluency promise is a brand claim about long-term smoothness, and it is worth reading as a promise of intent, not a guarantee. The phone does not come with a published commitment on Android version upgrades.

Connectivity & Audio

This is a 4G-only phone with VoLTE, which is fine for Jio and Airtel calling and everyday data, but it will not take advantage of 5G networks. Wi-Fi 4 is basic. A 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB Type-C and an IR blaster for TV and AC remote control are welcome conveniences at this price. The single speaker is loud enough for casual media use and is tuned with DTS Sound, but it will not fill a room with bass.

Features Assessment

The features that matter most are the ones that last: IP65 protection, the 120 Hz screen and the large battery. Ultra Link, which lets nearby phones message over Bluetooth without a mobile signal, is a clever extra for treks, crowded events or poor-signal areas. The IR blaster is genuinely handy. The AI tools are nice to have but will not change how most people use the phone.

Ease of Use

The interface is clean, the side fingerprint sensor is quick to learn, and the Go edition keeps menus uncluttered. The phone suits first-time smartphone users and older family members who want a bigger screen without a confusing setup. Accessories in the box, including a headset and an OTG adapter, mean you can start using it straight away.

Value for Money

The Zeno 200 competes on durability and screen rather than raw speed. A 120 Hz display, IP65 protection, 128 GB of storage and a headphone jack are features that many phones at this level skip. Against rivals that offer 5G or a faster chipset for a little more, the Zeno 200 asks you to value toughness over performance. Check the current price on the shops before buying, since it varies between sellers and colours.

Who Should Buy It?

Students, first-time smartphone users, parents and anyone who wants a tough, dependable backup phone will find a lot to like. It also suits people who work outdoors or in dusty and wet conditions, and who want a large screen for video and social apps without paying for 5G they may not use.

Who Should Consider Alternatives?

Mobile gamers and heavy multitaskers should look at phones with a stronger processor. Photography fans should choose a model with a better camera setup. Anyone who wants a phone that stays current for several years of 5G networks, or who needs fast charging, should spend a little more elsewhere.

Pros

  • IP65 dust and splash protection, a rare feature at this price
  • Smooth 120 Hz display for scrolling and video
  • Large 5,000 mAh battery lasts a full day
  • 128 GB storage with microSD support
  • Headphone jack and IR blaster included

Cons

  • No 5G support, so it is tied to 4G networks
  • Slow 10 W charger in the box, even though the phone supports 15 W
  • Modest Unisoc processor struggles with heavy apps and games
  • Basic single 13 MP camera, weak in low light
  • HD+ resolution looks soft and the screen is dim outdoors

Editorial Verdict

The itel Zeno 200 is a sensible budget phone for people who value durability and a smooth screen more than raw speed. IP65 protection, a 120 Hz display, a 5,000 mAh battery and 128 GB of storage are a strong set of basics, and the headphone jack and IR blaster add everyday convenience. Software is clean and light, and the Ultra Link feature is a useful extra in poor-signal areas. Against that, the Unisoc processor limits what it can do, the single 13 MP camera is only good in daylight, the HD+ screen looks soft outdoors, and charging through the 10 W adapter is slow. It has no 5G, which matters for anyone planning to keep a phone for several years. For students, parents, first-time smartphone users and rough-use backups, it does the job well and feels tougher than its class. For gamers, photographers and fast-charging fans, a stronger phone is worth the extra spend.
