Quick Summary

The E-Series E2425HSM is Dell's answer for people who want a tidy, no-nonsense 24-inch office and study monitor with the basics already built in. It combines a Full HD IPS panel, a 100 Hz refresh rate and a pair of small speakers with a stand that adjusts in every direction. It is not a colour-critical or gaming display, and its brightness and colour range are modest. At about Rs 8,299 from a main seller on Flipkart, it makes sense for home desks, classrooms and small offices that want one cable and one screen.

Design & Build Quality

The E2425HSM is plain and professional: a black body, thin bezels on the sides and top, and a matte anti-glare coat on the screen. That coating matters in Indian homes and offices where a bright window or a tube light often sits behind the user, because it keeps reflections from competing with the picture. With the stand it weighs about 4.65 kg, noticeably more than the tilt-only sibling, a reasonable price for the height-adjustable stand and its sturdier feel.

The design is meant to disappear on the desk, which is exactly what most office buyers want. There are no lighting effects, no gaming styling and no unnecessary branding.

Display Quality

The 24-inch IPS panel runs at Full HD (1920 × 1080) and offers wide 178-degree viewing angles, so colours and brightness hold up if you sit off-centre or share the screen with a colleague. The 100 Hz refresh rate is a pleasant step above the usual 60 Hz: scrolling through long documents, spreadsheets or web pages feels smoother, and cursor movement looks less choppy. The quoted 5 ms response time is adequate for video and casual games but this is not a competitive gaming screen.

Brightness is rated at about 250 nits and the colour range is 72% NTSC, which is typical of an office monitor. Documents, browsing and video calls look clean, but photo editors and designers should look at a wider-gamut display. In a sunlit room, 250 nits is enough with the anti-glare coating, but it will not feel punchy.

Sound, Connectivity & Ergonomics

The standout feature in this E-Series line is the built-in pair of 2 W speakers. They are not a replacement for proper speakers, but they are handy for calls, tutorials and alerts, and they save a cable and some desk space. If you only need audio for meetings, you may not need anything else.

Connectivity is broad for the price: one HDMI port, one DisplayPort 1.2 and one VGA port, so it works with a modern laptop and an older desktop alike. HDMI supports Full HD at 100 Hz. There is no USB-C input or USB hub, so a laptop that charges over USB-C will need a separate cable and charger.

The stand is the other highlight. Height adjusts up to 130 mm, the screen tilts from -5 to +21 degrees, swivels widely, and pivots 90 degrees in either direction, which is useful for coding or reading long documents in portrait mode. The stand is also VESA compatible if you prefer an arm.

Features Assessment

The feature set is practical. ComfortView Plus is built into the hardware and reduces blue light without the yellow tint that software filters add, and the panel carries a TÜV Rheinland three-star eye-comfort rating. These matter for people who spend eight or more hours in front of a screen. There is no adaptive sync or HDR here, and none is needed for its purpose.

Ease of Use

Setup takes minutes: attach the stand, plug in power and a video cable, and the screen is ready. Because it is a plain monitor, there is no software to learn and the on-screen menu covers brightness, contrast and input selection. Cleaning is easy with the matte finish.

Value for Money

The lowest price we found is Rs 8,299 on Flipkart, sold by TBL Online, a seller Flipkart shows with six years on the platform. For that money you get an IPS panel, 100 Hz, speakers, a stand with full adjustment and a three-year warranty. Many monitors at this price give up the speakers or restrict the stand to tilt only, so the E2425HSM offers more usable features than most. Shop around, because we did not find it on Amazon.in, Reliance Digital or Croma, and it is not on Dell's own Indian store.

Who Should Buy It?

Students, work-from-home users and small offices who want a 24-inch monitor with built-in speakers, a stand that adjusts to fit, and reliable eye-comfort features. It also suits anyone setting up a shared desk where different people need different heights and angles.

Who Should Consider Alternatives?

Gamers need a higher refresh rate and faster response, and creative professionals should look for a monitor with wider colour coverage and higher brightness. Laptop users who want one-cable charging over USB-C will also be better served elsewhere.

  • Built-in 2 W speakers save desk space
  • Fully adjustable stand with height and pivot

Editorial Verdict

The Dell E-Series E2425HSM is a sensible, well-rounded office monitor that delivers more everyday convenience than its simple looks suggest. The Full HD IPS panel is clean and easy to look at, the 100 Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and cursor movement feel smoother than a typical 60 Hz screen, and the built-in speakers take care of calls and videos without extra gear. The stand is the highlight, offering height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustment that most monitors in this class skip, and the hardware eye-comfort features help during long working days. The compromises are equally easy to see. Brightness is modest, the colour range is only suitable for general work, there is no USB-C or hub, and the response time rules out serious gaming. Availability also looks limited, with the monitor appearing mainly through one main online seller. For students, home offices and small businesses that want a reliable everyday screen with proper ergonomics, it is an easy choice. Creators and gamers should aim higher.
