Quick Summary

The S2725QS is Dell's 27-inch 4K monitor with an IPS panel, a 120 Hz refresh rate and stereo speakers, sold as the Dell 27 Plus 4K. It prices in at roughly Rs 27,000 on Flipkart, which is a fair amount for a monitor, but you get a sharp, colour-accurate screen, a height-adjustable stand and a long warranty. The compromise is that it is built for general use rather than for competitive gaming or colour-critical work. For a home office, a study desk or a mixed work-and-entertainment setup, it is one of the easier monitors to live with.

Design & Build Quality

The Ash White finish with a narrow bezel gives the monitor a clean, modern look that suits a bright desk. The stand is the real strength. Height, tilt, swivel and pivot are all adjustable, which is not common at this price, and the 130 mm of height travel lets you bring the screen to eye level without books underneath. The monitor weighs about 6.5 kg with the stand, so it is solid on the desk without being hard to move. It also has a standard 100 × 100 mm VESA mount if you prefer an arm, and a cable lock slot for shared spaces.

Display Quality

This is where the S2725QS earns its price. A 27-inch 4K panel works out to about 163 ppi, so text is crisp and fine detail in photos and spreadsheets looks clean, a clear step up from a Full HD or even a QHD screen of the same size. The IPS panel holds colour from wide angles, and 99% sRGB coverage means colours look natural for everyday editing, browsing and streaming. At 350 nits it is bright enough for most Indian rooms.

Contrast is the usual IPS 1,500:1, so blacks look a little grey in a dark room, and HDR is basic compared with a monitor with local dimming. Dell's ComfortView Plus and its Eye Comfort rating are useful for people who spend long hours at the screen. The anti-glare surface helps with reflections from windows.

Gaming & Media Performance

The 120 Hz refresh rate is a pleasant surprise on a 4K office monitor. Scrolling and cursor movement look smoother than on a 60 Hz screen, and AMD FreeSync Premium helps keep games tear-free on a compatible graphics card. Driving 4K at 120 Hz takes a powerful PC or console, and the two HDMI 2.1 ports make it a sensible match for a current console. Response times of 4 ms to 8 ms GtG are fine for casual play, but serious esports players will prefer a dedicated gaming panel.

Connectivity & Audio

The port selection is plain: two HDMI 2.1 and one DisplayPort 1.4. There is no USB-C input or USB hub listed, so a laptop user may need a dock or a USB-C to DisplayPort cable. The built-in 2 × 5 W speakers are fine for video calls and casual videos, but music and movies sound thin, so a pair of desktop speakers or headphones is a good idea.

Features Assessment

Dell keeps the feature list sensible: FreeSync Premium, ComfortView Plus, an adjustable stand and the Display and Peripheral Manager software for managing the monitor. The monitor also has a low power draw for a 4K panel, with a typical use of about 25 W, and an ENERGY STAR rating. Nothing here feels like a gimmick.

Ease of Use

Setup is quick, because an HDMI cable is included in the box. Use the DisplayPort or an HDMI 2.1 cable to get the full 120 Hz at 4K. The on-screen menu and the Dell software make it easy to adjust colour modes and brightness.

Value for Money

The lowest main-listing price we found is about Rs 26,879 on Flipkart, with Amazon.in listing it at Rs 32,990. At the Flipkart price the S2725QS is good value for a 4K IPS monitor with speakers, an adjustable stand and a three-year warranty. The Amazon price makes it much harder to justify, so check both before buying. Spending less usually means a Full HD or QHD screen with a fixed stand.

Who Should Buy It?

Professionals working from home, students, and people who split time between work, movies and light gaming will get the most from this monitor. It also suits a laptop user who wants a larger and sharper second screen, provided a dock or a suitable cable is available.

Who Should Consider Alternatives?

Competitive gamers should look at a dedicated high-refresh gaming monitor with a faster panel. Photographers and video editors who need wider gamut coverage than 99% sRGB should look at a colour-focused monitor. Buyers who want USB-C charging and a hub for a laptop should look for a model with those built in.

Pros

  • Sharp 4K text and detail on a 27-inch IPS panel
  • 120 Hz refresh rate with AMD FreeSync Premium
  • Fully adjustable stand with height, tilt, swivel and pivot
  • Two HDMI 2.1 ports suit current consoles
  • Three-year warranty and low power draw for a 4K panel

Cons

  • No USB-C input or USB hub listed
  • Built-in speakers sound thin
  • IPS contrast of 1,500:1 greys out dark scenes
  • HDR is basic without local dimming
  • Amazon.in price is much higher than Flipkart

Editorial Verdict

The Dell S2725QS is a well-judged all-rounder. Its 27-inch 4K IPS panel gives sharp text and natural colour, the 120 Hz refresh rate makes everyday use and casual gaming feel smoother than a 60 Hz screen, and the fully adjustable stand is a real comfort advantage over most rivals. Eye-care features, two HDMI 2.1 ports and low power consumption add to a package with few obvious flaws. The omissions are equally clear. There is no USB-C input or hub, the speakers are only adequate, contrast is typical for IPS and HDR is basic. It is not aimed at esports players or professional colourists. Anyone who spends long hours at a desk, splits time between work and entertainment, or wants a sharper second screen for a laptop should shortlist it. Compare shop prices carefully, because the gap between listings is large. For the right user, it is a dependable monitor that should stay useful for years.
